Gailes this week hosted the Queensland Junior Boys
Championship. Despite the deluge that hit Gailes on Sunday Stewart
Poole and his team were able to provide a great playing course on
Monday, proving once again that Gailes is indeed a wonderful all
weather course. The final round of the 72 hole stroke play event was
played in excellent conditions today.

Nisbet holds off challengers to win his second Queensland Junior
Championship
Daniel Nisbet
(Caboolture) has claimed his second
Queensland Junior Championship after finishing with a solid final
round score of 71 (-2). Nisbet was too hard to catch in the end,
winning the 2008 championship by seven strokes. Incredibly, Nisbet
won the championship after shooting a disappointing first round 80
(+7) placing him well off the pace after round one but bounced back
with rounds of 65, 67, 71
.
2008 Junior Boys'
Champion of Queensland Daniel Nisbet (Caboolture)
Nisbet ended the championship on 283
(-9), with the nearest challenger and runner-up being Phillip An
(Pacific) who finished a further seven shots behind after only
managing a final round 72 (-1).Third place went to 2007 Schoolboys
Champion of Queensland Peter Hong (Indooroopilly) who closed with a
74 (+1) finishing on a championship total of 294 (+2).
The 14 years and under division was won
by Nicholas Smits (The Colonial) who played some impressive golf on
the final day shooting a 72 (-1) overtaking overnight leader Cameron
Smith (Wantima) and finishing on a total of 297 (+5). Runner-up went
to the 2007 14 years and under division winner Aaron Wilkin (Wynnum)
on a championship total of 298 (+6).
Golf Queensland thanks Gailes Golf Club
for their tremendous effort and work on and off the course before
and during the championship. Full credit must go to course
superintendent Stewart Poole and his team for presenting a fantastic
course after torrential rain the day before the championship.
